Alumni scholarships are made possible through the generosity of those who believe in investing in the futures of others. Support comes from revenue generated by membership in the Alumni Association and through personal donations by alumni who believe in giving back to their alma mater that gave so much to them. Scholarships are $1,500 each. The Alumni Association currently provides multiple scholarship opportunities to CSUN students in each of the following three areas:
First Generation Scholarships
- For students who are the first in their family to attend a four year university. Link to more info
Graduate Student Scholarship
- For alumni who attended CSUN as undergraduates and plan to continue their education at CSUN at the graduate level. Link to more info
Alumni Chapter Scholarships
- A number of chartered alumni chapters offer scholarships in a variety of disciplines. These are posted in your academic department office.

The Cal State Northridge Alumni Association reviews applications for alumni scholarships using all information available at the stated deadlines. Student reported eligibility information is confirmed by records available on the University computer system. Information that cannot be confirmed using computer records will not be used by the Scholarship Office. The Scholarship Office cannot be responsible for errors on the system and subsequent late changes. Admissions and grade changes made after the deadline are not considered in the application or award process. After the applications have been reviewed, they are forwarded to the Alumni Association Scholarship Committee for selection and scoring according to the criteria and requirements specified for each scholarship. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee an award. If selected, you will be notified by the Alumni Association at the end of July and funds will be dispersed by the CSUN Scholarship Office at the end of August. Occasionally, scholarships recipients cannot accept their awards. When this occurs, an alternate is selected as a replacement.
Due to the large number of applicants, you will not be individually contacted by the Alumni Association during the selection process and only the final recipients will be notified of their award. However, you may confirm receipt of your application by the alumni selection committee by emailing your name and scholarship category to email@example.com anytime after the posted submission deadline. The names of the final scholarship recipients will be posted on our website beginning September 1st.
